Buckner Children & Family Services in Longview, Tx is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Buckner offers a wide variety of services to children, families and single parents in the Longview area with the goal of building the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in life and fulfill their potential. This profile highlights our Buckner Family Pathways program. Buckner Family Pathways™ is designed to help single parents in crisis who need to care for their children and determine next steps for their family’s future. Single-parent programs help single parents overcome barriers that prevent self-sufficiency, such as education, career prospects and life skills. These barriers ultimately affect the potential for children to succeed at school and later in their adult lives.

Family Pathways is a short-term residential program with most residents staying for an average of 36 months, depending on length and requirement of degree plan.

Documents Required:

  1. Copy of an official college transcript or advising report.
  2. If you are not currently in enrolled in college, please provide copies of your high school transcript or your GED, and TSI scores.
  3. Pell Grant Award Letter and FASFA Award letter. Are you in need of assistance with securing financial aid? _____ Yes _____No
  4. Documentation of all income (pay stubs, TANF, Child Support, parental/family support, and/or other income).
  5. Copy of acceptance letter from your approved academic institution.
  6. Copy of Social Security cards for applicant and all children in household.
  7. Copy of driver’s license or Texas ID.
  8. Copy of official birth certificates (not from hospital) for applicant and all children in household.
  9. Verification of Texas state residency (must have lived in Texas 12 months to be eligible for in-state tuition).
  10. Three (3) letters of recommendation from people (non-family members - example: former teacher, pastor, employer, etc.) who know you well and can inform us about your character.

Program Fees:

2-bedroom apartments:

  • $180 a month rental co-pay + $50 a month program fee= $230 a month due

3-bedroom apartments:

  • $230 a month rental co-pay + $50 a month program fee= $280 a month due

Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, a single parent, and be currently enrolled or pursuing enrollment in an educational or vocational program. Additional requirements vary from location to location.

Areas we serve: Family Pathways accepts applicants from any geographic location, as long as they meet the requirements and are interested in living in one of our offered cities.

Lacy is a single 25-year-old facing an unplanned pregnancy, unsure if she can parent her child. Mackenzie and Taylor have been in foster care for six years and are anxiously awaiting a forever family to adopt them. Doris and Peter are empy-nesters, looking for a life of community and meaning as they live out their retirement years.

Buckner offers a wide variety of services to children, families and single parents in the Longview area with the goal of building the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in life and fulfill their God-given potential.

When you volunteer with Buckner in Longview, you will meet people like Lacy, Mackenzie, Taylor, Doris and Peter. You will minister to them and pray with them. Their stories will leave an eternal impact on your soul. The Buckner ministry is unlike any other.

In Longview, we provide:

Foster care and adoption

Buckner provides the training and resources needed to become a family to a child for a season through foster care or a forever family through domestic foster care or adoption. Children in these programs are most often referred through the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services due to experiencing abuse, neglect or abandonment. We also respond to mothers experiencing an unplanned pregnancy with counseling and support. Learn more by calling 903-757-9383.

Buckner Family Hope Center® in Longview

The Family Hope Center programs offer child-centered, family-focused places where families go to find hope, support and empowerment in their community to reach their fullest God-given potential. The key to the succes of the Family Hope Center is found in combining effective programs and passionate people to help families that are experiencing poverty, family issues and lack of services.

Our programs seek to engage through family assistance and community events; equip families through education, financial empowerment, child and youth development and spiritual development; elevate families through family coaching, counseling and spiritual enrichment.

We provide single-parent families the opportunity to live in a safe, secure environment while completing their educational or vocational goals and learning the skills they need to be self-sufficient. Families are provided support through access to affordable housing, financial assistance, counseling, spiritual growth and case management services.
