Our goal is to foster year-round civic engagement within our communities and to inspire a sense of purpose and critical thinking. We do this by directly addressing the most pressing issues affecting us, including immigration, healthcare, and wealth inequality. Since October 1988, the East Texas Food Bank, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has provided food to over 200 partner agencies and food programs, in an effort to feed children, the working poor and seniors throughout 26 counties in East Texas. A member of Feeding America, The East Texas Food Bank is one of four food banks that serves the Gulf Coast Region who are pre-staged with food products from Feeding America, to respond to disasters.

Our food sources include a variety of national, regional and local food manufacturers, brokers, wholesalers, and retailers donate food to the East Texas Food Bank. Donated food includes overproduced or discontinued items, frozen foods, dairy products, mislabeled goods, dented cans, day-old breads and pastries, and odd-sized produce. Local farmers and gardeners provide fresh produce. Individuals, businesses and community organizations support the East Texas Food Bank through various canned food drives throughout the year.

**Please read below regarding our Emergency Shelter:**

Provided they’re not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, walk-in guests of the Hiway 80 Rescue Mission are offered a bed, along with showers, food, clothing, care and spiritual support. Shelter use is not an answer to homelessness, but a first step to self-sufficiency. We provide shelter, food, and clothing in a safe, healthy, Christian environment while exposing people to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and making them aware of community resources.

The goal for each guest is to identify the issue(s) that have created the state of homelessness and begin to address those issues, so they can transition into a long-term solution. Our guests are encouraged to join the Mission’s long-term recovery programs to get to the root causes of their homelessness so they can end it permanently.

**Loving Others as Christ Commanded**

In 1955 the Hiway 80 Rescue Mission was established to provide food and shelter, and to share the gospel with homeless men in Longview. For over 65 years God has helped us grow this ministry to include an emergency shelter for women and families in Longview as well as two campuses in Tyler.

We feature Christ-centered recovery programs, and community outreach services. Through the New Creation Discipleship program, we teach people about Christ’s love and commands, arming them with the tools they need to overcome addictions, abusive situations, and many other difficulties they face in life. After completing the 10-month program, services are provided to assist them with achieving self-sufficiency.

Through Case Management, we assist homeless men and women in identifying and overcoming the obstacles that are keeping them in homelessness. Our case management team works with the individuals to create a plan to address those obstacles, secure and budget an income and locate healthy and appropriate housing.

What started in one, small building now spans 4 campuses in Longview and Tyler.

What Does Real IMPACT Longview do? We Change People’s Lives! And we want to make YOU a STAR Real Estate Investor! We provide networking and referrals with other Investors, Vendors, and Contractors. We offer a free meeting and a 1-hour free consultation for new or seasoned Real Estate Investors. In the past we have held workshops focused on Finding Deals, Finding Money, Creative Deal Structure, Wholesaling, and How to get Started. We also provide a host of self-paced online training options.
