**FREE! No fees are charged for attending Kilgore College Adult Education & Literacy (ESL, GED Preparation, Exam Preparation, or Intensive College Readiness) courses.**

**Eligibility Requirements:** Participants must be at least 19 years old unless stipulated by the agreement of the facility. Participants who are 16-18 years old must have parental consent, proof of withdrawal from school, and a court order (16-year-olds only).

We carefully select our instructors for their ability to work with the adult learner. The curriculum ranges from basic-literacy level to twelfth-grade level instruction in reading, writing, social studies, science, and math. We will assess your current educational level, and then design a training program for you.

**Our programs are free! Registration is quick & easy.**

No fees are charged for attending Kilgore College Adult Education & Literacy (ESL, TxCHSE, Exam Preparation, or Intensive College Readiness) courses, however students must furnish their school supplies. Registration is easy and quick Classes are held continually throughout the year with registration during various months. Chicken Salad Chick does more for the community and nonprofits than just offering delicious food! We offer a space for nonprofits to collaborate, network, meet, and plan at no cost. We also support nonprofits!!! Read under "Services/Resources offered" to learn more! Chicken Salad Chick is a quick-service restaurant offering 13 flavors of chicken salad, pimiento, spicy pimento, egg salad, and turkey sandwiches.  You have 4 bread options, 5 options for sides, soups, desserts and beverages.  All of our food is made from scratch daily.

- **Networking, planning, and collaboration event space for nonprofits at no cost!**
- We host Celebrity Nights at our restaurant. Nonprofits can choose a day (Monday thru Thursday) and after 2pm-8pm.  You choose how many hours you would like to be there.  You and the organization can be greeters, you are welcome to sell any products other than food, you are welcome to place tip jars at the registers.  Your organization will take home 20% of all profits.  The more we both market, the more the organization makes.  We then cut you a check in 7 days from the date of the event.
- **We have an event space that seats up to 40 individuals that we offer to nonprofits for free.**  You can either choose a catered buffet meal that would be in the event space or each guest can go to the register.  Our meals start at $8.99 for a sandwich or scoop, 1 side and a cookie and pickle.

###### Event Space is FREE to nonprofits. Celebrity Nights are FREE, and the nonprofit receives 20% of all sales.

###### How It All Began… From Stacy’s Kitchen to Successful Franchise

Stacy Brown has always been on a quest to find the perfect chicken salad. One day she had an epiphany: Everyone’s idea of the perfect chicken salad is completely different! The stay-at-home mom set to work perfecting her own recipe, recruiting her family and neighbors to taste-test, before arriving at the one.

Once Stacy had the chicken salad that made her family and friends say “mmm, yes ma’am,” she started dropping off samples of her creation in teachers’ lounges and hair salons, and then began selling door-to-door. Orders poured in; Chicken Salad Chick was born. One day Stacy received a call from Stan with the Lee County Health Department, who told her the home business was illegal. With her chicken salad still in high demand, Stacy and her husband, Kevin Brown, were motivated to open up a carry-out only, humble yet honest-to-goodness restaurant where they could spread joy, enrich lives, and serve others. The rest, as they say, is history.

**The Future is Bright**
Under the leadership of CEO Scott Deviney, franchising has taken off in a major way. Chicken Salad Chick boasts over 225 restaurants today with plans to exceed 250 locations or more including additional states in 2023. We are offering craveable, made-from-scratch meals served from the heart to guests throughout the South, and are well on our way to be “America’s Favorite Place for Chicken Salad.”

East Texas CASA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer board of directors located in Longview, Tx. We are a member of the National and Texas CASA Associations. There are over 1000 CASA programs nationwide and 73 CASA programs in the state of Texas.
East Texas CASA continue to serve abused and neglected children in Gregg, Rusk and Upshur Counties since 1992 by providing trained community volunteers for every child who was assigned to the program through the court.

**East Texas CASA advocacy is free for CPS cases in Gregg, Upshur, and Rusk County. The Getting Together Safely which is the court-appointed visitation does have fees as are set by the judge.**

**MISSION STATEMENT**
East Texas CASA will recruit and train volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children and youth who are removed from their families due to abuse or neglect in Gregg, Rusk, and Upshur counties.

**VISION**
The Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA):

- Ensures the child is receiving physical and mental health care services;
- Has access to school records and advocates for the child’s educational needs;
- Visits the child and placement to evaluate the level of care the child is receiving;
- Searches for and evaluates any potential temporary or permanent placements;
- Advocates to find a permanent solution for the child as quickly as possible; and
- Remains with the child until the case is closed and the child is no longer in the custody of the State.

**HISTORY**
East Texas CASA is part of a national volunteer movement that began in 1977 when Judge David Soukup in Seattle decided he needed to know more about the children whose lives were in his hands. His solution was to ask community volunteers to act as a “voice in court” for abused and neglected children. These Court Appointed Special Advocate® (CASAs) provided him with the detailed information he needed to safeguard the children’s best interests and ensure that they were placed in safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible. The program was so successful that it was copied around the nation.

East Texas CASA has continued to serve abused and neglected children in Gregg, Rusk and Upshur Counties since 1992 by providing trained community volunteers for every child who was assigned to the program through the court.

Education By Design is a nonprofit organization (501c3). An After School Enrichment Program That Caters To Underserved Students.
Education by Design is a grass-roots intervention non-profit program for school-aged children in need of academic, social, and emotional, support, from 2nd to 11th grade. Rooted in a commitment of more than 25 years of advocacy for community development and self-empowerment, the organization’s founder Dr. Joycelyne Fadojutimi, transformed her doctoral studies into action with the establishment of Education by Design, an innovative non-profit organization to combat the ills of poverty, low educational attainment, and hopelessness.
