The Longview Arboretum and Nature Center is a privately managed arboretum garden in the heart of Longview. Like many other arboretums across our nation, a respectful partnership exists between the City of Longview and the Board of the Longview Arboretum and Nature Center regarding the sustainability of this massive endeavor. This public/private partnership allows for cultivation, development, private investment, and collaborative maintenance on 26-acres between the Longview Convention Complex and Grace Creek tributary.

Opened Saturday, November 2, 2019, the Longview Arboretum began it's role as a privately managed arboretum devoted to revealing the unique eco-system of East Texas in a beautiful and thoughtful manner. The mission to educate our community, stimulate the senses, and create a positive relationship to nature is one that the Board of Directors pursues for the future. Our executive director, Steven Chamblee directs the growth, plantings, events, and exhibits of the Longview Arboretum. Please stop by and say hello if you see him in the gardens.

This ever-growing garden is a living testament to a love of community, and the soul enriching quality of spending time in nature.

Este Poder is a nonprofit 501c3 serving several counties in East Texas. Rural communities of color in East Texas have been systematically ignored when it comes to shaping our collective future. Our goal is to foster year-round civic engagement within our communities and to inspire a sense of purpose and critical thinking. We do this by directly addressing the most pressing issues affecting us, including immigration, healthcare, and wealth inequality. **IMPORTANT RESOURCE**
During the Christmas Holiday, The Queens Care Organization helps to support families experiencing socio-economic hardship through our program initiative, The Queen's Christmas Wishlist Project.  Each year, we partner with a local school's backpack program to provide Christmas gifts to children in the program.  

The child fills out their Christmas wishlist and we work diligently to fulfill the wishlist of each child.  We also host a themed Christmas party for the families with food, games, music. arts & crafts, raffle drawings, prizes, and meal/food boxes.  The children are presented with their gifts during the party.  

We rely entirely on the support and generosity of family, friends, community partners, sponsorship, and donations to help make this possible.


**Our services are provided at no cost.**

**Eligibility Requirements:** Children must be in Grades 1st - 5th and be in a backpack program with a local school district, Boys and Girls Club, community center, or food bank.

Durante las vacaciones de Navidad, la Organización Queens Care ayuda a apoyar a familias que experimentan dificultades socioeconómicas a través de nuestra iniciativa de programa, The Queen's Christmas Wishlist Project. Cada año, nos asociamos con el programa de mochilas de una escuela local para proporcionar regalos de Navidad a los ninos en el programa.

El nino completa su lista de deseos navideños y trabajamos diligentemente para cumplir con la lista de deseos de cada niño. También organizamos una fiesta temática de Navidad para las familias con comida, juegos, música, artes y manualidades, sorteos, premios y cajas de comida. Los niños reciben sus regalos durante la fiesta.

The Queens C.A.R.E. Organization was established by a group of women who are Longview High School Class of 1986 Alumni.  We are committed to helping improve the quality of life for children, families & individuals from underserved communities in the Longview area through community projects and programs.  We are advocates for those who are most in need and have often been overlooked by other charities in the Longview area.

Statistics tell us that many girls who age out of the Foster care system are at a high risk of teen pregnancy and becoming victims of sex trafficking. KEEPS Boutique combats these statistics through reaching out to teen girls in the state foster care system with Jesus’ love. KEEPS offers personalized shopping appointments at KEEPS Boutique, where all the clothing is brand new. Each girl picks 6 items to take home free of charge.

KEEPS also offers “girls’ nights out” events, summer camps and bible studies to teen girls in foster care around East Texas. Through these brief but impactful year-round encounters the girls experience the Father’s love which changes their future trajectories.

Las estadísticas nos dicen que muchas niñas que salen del sistema de cuidado de crianza corren un alto riesgo de quedar embarazadas en la adolescencia y convertirse en víctimas de tráfico sexual. KEEPS Boutique combate estas estadísticas acercándose a las adolescentes del sistema estatal de cuidado de crianza con el amor de Jesús. KEEPS ofrece citas de compras personalizadas en KEEPS Boutique, donde toda la ropa es nueva. Cada niña elige 6 artículos para llevarse a casa de forma gratuita.

KEEPS también ofrece eventos de “salidas nocturnas para niñas”, campamentos de verano y estudios bíblicos para niñas adolescentes en hogares de acogida en el este de Texas. A través de estos breves pero impactantes encuentros que duran todo el año, las niñas experimentan el amor del Padre que cambia sus trayectorias futuras.

Axia Mobile Pregnancy Resource Center Admin Assistant and Patient Advocate

**Our Story**

In 1982, YWAM missionary and visionary leader,  Beverly Kline, met a Tyler teenager who was fearful that she might be pregnant.  In seeking help for this young lady, Bev was directed by the health department to an 800 number for a free pregnancy test. Bev soon learned that the free test was provided by a Dallas abortion clinic, which utilized a local Tyler laboratory, that ultimately provided the lead for an abortion sale.  

Little did anyone know, that that one inquiry would result in closing the door to that clinic’s abortion access in Tyler! Since then, more than 40,000 free tests have been administered by Tyler’s Living Alternatives Pregnancy Resource Center.  Today, in addition to pregnancy testing, the Center also performs free sonograms which drastically increases the survival rate of the unborn child. The Center’s Building Blocks program continues to minister to the women after a confirmed pregnancy with individual parent mentoring, childbirth education and doula services, to ensure the safe arrival of the baby. 

Fatherheart Maternity Home has provided more than 600 young women safe haven to mend the past and move into the future with a renewed hope. Babies are a great start to a new beginning. For many of the girls, a new beginning starts with an adoptive family for her baby, facilitated by the ministry’s Loving Alternative Adoption Agency.  More than 200 birthmothers have made the loving and sacrificial choice to prepare an adoption plan, and placed their precious baby into the arms of trusted adoptive parents. 

Loving Alternatives was also honored to utilize its agency license for a season, by helping the Smith County Family Court find Christian families for 100 children who were waiting in foster homes for an adoption. This ministry is called ForThe1.

Statistics tell us that many girls who age out of the Foster system are at a higher risk for trafficking and unplanned pregnancies. KEEPS Boutique combats these statistics by providing a unique shopping experience for teen girls in the State foster care system. This free shopping experience enables personal connection through “girls’ nights out” events, and a summer camp experience. Through these brief but impacting encounters the girls experience the touch of the Father’s love as the staff welcome them with warm embraces.  

The flagship of all the Living Alternatives ministries is the Pregnancy Resource Center.  The PRC is the where the heartbeat of Living Alternatives emanates from, and this heart is ENLARGING.  In partnership with the community, 1.2 million dollars was raised for a state-of-the-art facility called The AXIA Center that allowed Living Alternatives to reach more women in even more effective ways. Free pregnancy testing and sonograms are tools utilized to reach the target audience of abortion-vulnerable women with hope – and help – to make life changing decisions for their unborn child and their future.
