Care and Share is a non profit organization. Our sole purpose is to help and provide low-income individuals with food, clothing, and other essential needs.
Here are the list of services we offer:
- Back Pack Program for Head Start: 788 bags per month (which includes at-risk families in and out of school. We supply the High School, Middle School, and Elementary School Pantry with food.
- Healthy Pantry: Healthy grain and low sodium diet items are provided (Approximately 175 pantry bags per month).
- Senior Box Program: This program provides over 400 Seniors with a food box every month. We deliver to approximately 125 clients who are unable to pick up food.
- Collaboration with APS (Adult Protective Services) and CPS (Child Protective Services) to ensure Seniors and Children live in a safe carefree environment.
- Smoke Alarms: Smoke alarms are provided to anyone who wants or needs them thanks to our partnership with the Red Cross.
- Collaboration with Tri-County, Next Step, Neighborhood Strong, Get-Cap, and the USDA Rural Housing to help families make sure their homes are safe and energy efficient.
- Additional Social Work services (When funding is available):
- Assist Clients with Applications for Food Stamps (SNAP), QMB, Social Security, Chip Medicaid, and Adult Medicaid
- Obtain cell phone Service through Safe-Link
- Assist with Utility Payments
- Assist with Medical, Dental, Co-pays, Prescriptions, Vaccines
- Assist College Students with various needs
- Obtain Free Eye exams and glasses
- Gas for transportation
- Support the Red Cross in assisting victims.
Hours of Operation:
- San Augustine location - Address: 104 N. Montgomery, TX. 9am - 3pm Monday through Wednesday. Produce Drop, Pantry Distribution, Senior Box Distribution, Second Wednesday of the Month.
- Broaddus - Address: 800 FM 2558, Broaddus, TX Produce Drop, Food Pantry, Senior Box Distribution the second Tuesday of the month from 7am - 12pm. Third Tuesday of each month: Pantry and Senior Box Distribution 9am - 4pm
- Chireno Produce Drop - Address: 715 Main, Chireno, TX: Pantry, and Senior Box Distribution - Fourth Tuesday of the Month 8am - 1pm.

Join our mission to serve the community! Care and Share is always in need of dedicated volunteers to help us provide essential services to those in need. Here are some ways you can contribute:
- Client Assistance:
- Answer phones and take messages.
- Greet clients and assess their needs.
- Provide pre-made bags of groceries, meat, and dairy (all labeled with instructions) from our porch shelves and coolers.
- Assist clients with applications for additional resources and guide them to the appropriate information.
- Inventory and Distribution:
- Prepare grocery bags for distribution and restock coolers and shelves as needed.
- Enter client applications into the system to ensure accountability to the USDA through the East Texas Food Bank.
- Unload food deliveries and organize items in the warehouse using a First In/First Out system.
- Maintenance and Operations:
- Keep the facility clean and dispose of waste properly.
- Transport food and supplies between locations as required.
