Bethesda Health Clinic was founded in 2003 to help hard-working, uninsured East Texans receive affordable healthcare. We are a 501c3 nonprofit that accepts $0 in state or federal funding. We are 100% community supported and thrive from the generosity of medical volunteers, churches, individuals and businesses.

Bethesda serves low-income, working, uninsured East Texans. We give our patients a primary medical home. Without Bethesda they would be forced to seek care at the emergency room or choose between feeding their families and going to the doctor.

Our vision is to serve and honor Christ by inspiring our neighbors to live an abundant life, a life that is healthy in mind, body and spirit… a life that is meaningful, purposeful, joyful and eternal.

Bethesda is led by Dr. John English, who has served as the clinic’s CEO since 2004. Our team is made up of paid and volunteer medical and dental professionals, as well as support staff.

Since its inception, the clinic has served more than 20,000 patients and completed more than 265,000 patient visits.

### Serving East Texas for Over 20 years

The idea for Bethesda was born in 1999 when Dr. Michael Massar, Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas, received a call from a local physician who was interested in setting up a community clinic at the church.

Dr. Massar was inspired to help and soon reached out to other clergy in the area to see if they were interested in a more ambitious idea – a multi-congregation, shared health ministry. Years earlier, a parishioner named Porter Skidmore had donated an 11,000-square-foot building to First Baptist, and this could serve as the home of the ministry. A steering committee and board were formed, and they agreed to move forward as quickly as possible by renovating a 3,000-square-foot area in the Skidmore building. Donations of furniture, lab equipment, supplies and money poured in, and Bethesda opened its doors on September 6, 2003. Two doctors and four nurses were on duty. Thanks to the generosity of early contributors and a sizable gift from an anonymous donor, remodeling continued and the clinic expanded its capacity dramatically. By the end of 2004, the clinic had logged nearly 4,800 patient visits.

Large scale remodeling of the rest of the building was finished in January 2004, and the clinic began expanding its services beyond primary care services to include cardiology, gastroenterology, gynecology, podiatry, orthopedics, psychology, dentistry, physical therapy, ophthalmology, endocrinology, rheumatology, pulmonary, neurology, nephrology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, EKG, diabetes, radiology and lab work.

In 2015 the clinic once again underwent large scale remodeling. The David F. Nichols, DDS dental clinic came into being and expanded dentistry capacity greatly with the addition of two dental chairs and a hygienist chair for a total of 5 dental spaces. The Harold B. Cameron, MD medical clinic was formed and several additional exam room spaces were created to increase our capacity for primary care patients and some specialty visits, including a staff gynecologist available for Women’s health services. More administrative office space was added as well by taking in the former front porch.

Increased accessibility to care for patients in need of mental health services was expanded in 2019 with the addition of an on-site counselor who sees patients each week.

In 2020 Bethesda will celebrate 17 years of successful operation. Since its inception, the clinic has served more than 11,000 patients and completed more than 125,000 patient visits.

Graciously Broken began as a vision in the hearts of two recovering addicts who found hope and healing through the transformative work of the Gospel.  As God began to make a way for vision to become reality, board members joined the effort and a home was made available. God brought three women in need and in March of 2016 the doors were opened. Within the first two years, the ministry grew from 3 women to 21.  In 2019, we moved to our third location where we have a capacity for 30 residents. God continues to lead and direct as we develop, set, and meet goals to make this program it's very best.

Since the beginning, there has been continued growth and expansion within the ministry. Graciously Broken offers 3 different programs in order to reach those who have different needs. On our website you will find an explanation of each program and what they offer. Each program offers individualized care in a small, family-like environment for women who are ready to pursue health, wholeness, and freedom.

At Graciously Broken, we do not believe in behavior modification. Through experience, we have learned that true, lasting freedom can only be achieved with transformation of heart and mind. And this transformation is found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

##### COUNTING STARS RANCH: Veteran and 1st Responder Non-profit

Building bonds and helping heroes.

We are an all volunteer 501c3 non-profit organization established in 2021. We operate a faith based program to meet the needs in our local community. We are completely funded by your generous donations.

We provide military Veterans and First Responders with service related disabilities and their service dogs support and a peaceful environment to rest, relax and renew. We connect Veterans/First Responders with local services, build community and assist them in building a stronger and more effective bond with their service dog.

David and Dr. Vicki Smithers  founded Counting Stars Ranch in Ore City, TX in 2021. David passed away 6/26/24 at the age of 55. Vicki and a group of veterans are running the 501c3 and continuing retreats for veterans and 1st responders in David's honor.

The 152 acre ranch is nestled in the piney woods near Lake of the Pines  and Barnwell Mountain Outdoor Recreational Vehicle Park. We have 2 fishing ponds and acres of walking trails.

As a ministry, our vision is to see individuals facing crisis pregnancy living out their full potential in Christ. We understand the challenges that come with unplanned pregnancies, and whether parenting your child or placing your child for modern adoption, we believe God has a plan and purpose for you and your child—born and unborn!

**Mercy Manor has 4 programs under its umbrella:**
- **Residential Home:** Foster certified for minors (13-17) in crisis pregnancy
- **Community Classes:** free earning- while- learning program for anyone experiencing an unplanned or crisis pregnancy

Our Community Classes are held in Gregg County, but serve people from the immediate surrounding counties as well.

Mercy Manor was founded in 2013 after Texas Legislation did away with maternity home licensing. All long-term housing was approved for those 18 years of age and older.

This left a large number of girls ages 13-17 requesting help with no place to go.

Having experienced a teen pregnancy at the age of 16, Stephanie Fears (Founder & Executive Director) understands the fear, confusion, chaos, guilt, and shame that comes with a teen pregnancy. Abortion was encouraged, but it was not an option they would consider. 

She praises God every day that her heart was burdened for that precious child to have life! 

It was Stephanie’s compassion for these young ladies that birthed our ministry.

For Stephanie and her family, they chose adoption, and after reuniting with her son 20 years later, she has been able to witness the benefits of the alternatives to abortion. She has seen the productive life her son is living, gained a personal relationship with his adoptive parents, and heard the blessing this young man has been in the lives of those desperately wanting to have and love a child of their own!

Throughout the last few years, by God’s grace, Mercy Manor has continued to grow. As a ministry, they have expanded their services, and they are now serving individuals of all ages who find themselves facing a crisis pregnancy.

The East Texas Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides education, youth prevention programs, information resources, and services to prevent alcohol and drug use/misuse. We serve over 1.7 million people in our 23-county service area in East Texas.

Most services are at no charge to the community. Funding for programs is provided by:
- United Way
- Texas Health an Human Services
- Community Foundations
- Businesses and Individual Contributions

**Our organization provides the following resources:**
- Recovery Support Services (RSS) **(Free)** 
- Certified Peer Specialists and Recovery Coaches dedicated to the transformative power of peer support.
- Prevention Resource Center (PRC) & Naloxone Training **(Free)**: Comprehensive information and resources aimed at promoting awareness and preventing various issues.
- Youth Transition Services **(Free)**: Dedicated to providing support and assistance to ages 15-25 who have experienced foster care and been victims of various crimes.

**1. Adult Choices & Consequences of Substance Misuse Education Class**

The Adult Choices and Consequences of Substance Misuse Education Class is a 6-hour course with two mandatory 3-hour sessions from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday. Both sessions are required for a certificate. The class will be held at 708 Glencrest Lane, Longview, TX 75601. The $100 registration fee is due at sign-up (money order or credit card only). A $30 fee applies for lost certificates. Late arrivals, missed classes, or sessions will result in forfeited fees and no certificate.

 **2. Choices for Adolescents Education Class**

The Choices for Adolescents Education Class is a 3-hour course offered the 3rd Saturday of the month from 9 AM - 12 PM. Course topics include marijuana, Delta 8, K2, alcohol, tobacco, vaping, substance use denial, anger management, and bullying. The class will be held at 708 Glencrest Lane, Longview, TX 75601. The $75 registration fee is due at sign-up (money order or credit card only). A $30 fee applies for lost certificates. Late arrivals, missed classes, or sessions will result in forfeited fees and no certificate.
