**TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY AND PROTECTIVE SERVICES (DFPS)** has contracted to offer services to adopted children and their families to help them understand and cope with the effects of past abuse and manage the lifelong process of being adopted. Families may need assistance in dealing with handicaps, disabilities or developmental delays, or supportive services related to other issues.

**Supporting Adoptive Families**

Our Post Adoption Program comes to the aid of families that have accepted the responsibility of adopting a child that has previously been in the state’s foster care system. Many of these children have suffered abuse, neglect, and/or abandonment at the hands of their birth parents. It is the mission of our program to ensure that these families not only survive, but thrive with healthy, whole relationships. The staff in Post Adoption Services is trained and experienced in assessing needs and providing services to adoptive families. Services are provided at no cost for eligible clients. Care

The Alzheimer’s Alliance of Smith County is a local, independent nonprofit committed to providing life-changing support to persons living with dementia and their caregivers. With a small staff, a determined board and wonderful volunteers we provide the only access to support, assistance and education that is available for families in our area struggling to cope with this disease.

We offer programs and services to individuals with any type of dementia, their families and the professionals who care for them.

We are proud to be a local, autonomous group, governed by a local Board of Directors. One-hundred percent of all donations received by our agency STAYS in Smith County and is used to provide programs and services locally.

 

Our agency is a member of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

Marketing and Education Coordinator

In October 1982, eight caregivers attended the first Alzheimer’s Family Support Group in Tyler.  The purposes and goals of this founding group were to provide support and information to caregivers, to educate the public about the disease and its effects on persons living with the disease and their caregivers, and to support research.  In 1989, the local group affiliated with a national organization, the Alzheimer’s Association and became the Northeast Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and assumed leadership in 23 counties of Northeast Texas. 

In the late 1990’s, the national organization began a realignment process aimed at reducing the number of local chapters.  During this same timeframe, the local board began to experience a number of their own concerns, including decreased representation and dissemination of organization funds to a broader geographic area.  In 2002, the Northeast Texas Chapter began the process of disaffiliation from the national organization and by October of that year, the group had its 501(c) 3 designation and began operating as the Alzheimer’s Alliance of Northeast Texas, Inc.

At that time the Alliance, operating out of a Tyler office, served 16 counties in this geographic region of East Texas.  During the last half of 2008, the board carefully evaluated all programs and services being offered, the impact being made, and the overall support, both financial and volunteer, from each county.  Following this thorough review, the board made the difficult but necessary decision to reduce the service area from 16 counties to one, being Smith County.  Effective January 1, 2009 the corporation began legally doing business as the Alzheimer’s Alliance of Smith County.

After 39 years of service, the Alzheimer’s Alliance of Smith County has grown into a unique organization like no other. As a retirement community and as the aging population in Smith County continues to increase, the rate of Alzheimer’s and other dementia are also anticipated to increase significantly in the next few years and the Alliance wants to continue to grow and expand to meet the needs of our growing community.

##### Sustainable Community

At Steel Mill Farms, all of our animals are sourced, after weaning, from local farmers we know and trust. These animals are then raised to maturity here on our farm. We believe that by doing this, we are helping our fellow community members by providing an endpoint for their cattle that would otherwise end up in a sale barn or auction.


##### Cooperative Farming

Additionally, this method of cooperative farming allows us to ensure that animals are raised with specific ethical and husbandry standards. Once on our farm, all animals have 24/7 free access to quality forage. Additionally, all animals are brought to market finish on quality grains. We consult with local professionals to improve our forages and ultimately the improve the health of our animals.


##### Healthy & Hormone Free

Our animals never receive hormone supplements and only receive antibiotics in the rare event of an illness. However, we will ensure that any animal treated will adhere to all recommended residue withdrawal periods. Each animal undergoes inspection in a local Texas state-inspected processing facility.

- ###### At Steel Mill Farms we offer pork, beef, poultry, and more. All the proteins are locally raised farm fresh and farm grass-fed. We offer individual cuts and large orders for schools and large businesses.


- ###### Additionally, we support other small farms and organizations with food-related products. We carry vegetables that are grown and canned at a small local farm just outside of Canton, and coffee cups that are handmade at a Christian-based women's shelter for victims of domestic violence or human trafficking in Alabama.



- ##### Steel Mill Farms is a distributor of beef and pork in the Farm Fresh Network. This program allows small farms to partner with schools to get healthier meat for the students.


- ##### We also provide FREE community education on the benefits and security of having a better connection with your local food producers and distributors, and partnerships with local churches for several events.

En Steel Mill Farms, todos nuestros animales son adquiridos, después del destete, de granjeros locales que conocemos y en quienes confiamos. Estos animales son criados hasta la madurez aquí en nuestra granja. Co-Owner

Steel Mill Farms started as a back porch conversation among lifelong friends. Our two families (Steelman and Miller), were born and raised in our small community of Bettie, Texas surrounded and influenced by unbelievable men and women. Whether it was circling a dinner table or leaning on a fence post, they helped cultivate our love of Jesus, Food and Freedom.



In our ever changing “fast-food world”, we strive to provide quality farm fresh products that can not only feed families, but also help bring those small family farm values to the dinner table (or fence post) for the next generation. Clay and Clint Steelman were born and raised in Bettie, Texas. In their professional careers, both Clay and Clint are in the first responder community. Clay has been a law enforcement officer since 2002 while Clint has been a fire fighter since 2006. Clay is married to his high school sweetheart Becca and have two children, Savannah and Jase. Clint is also married to his wife Heather and has three children, Colton, Nolan and Cayden.



Michael and Kevin Miller were also born and raised in Bettie, Texas. Michael is a graduate of Texas A&M University and holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree. Michael has been a practicing veterinarian since 2011. Kevin attended North East Texas Community College. He began his career in the oil and gas industry in 2007 and is currently still working in the industry. Michael and his wife Elizabeth have two beautiful daughters, Caroline and Collynn. Kevin is also married to his wife Alaina and have their young son, Cole.

Open Door Pregnancy Center provides pregnancy medical services, referrals, and education to women and families experiencing an unexpected pregnancy or in need of additional support. We believe women have the right to get information from a resource that will not profit from their choice. All our services are confidential and available at no cost to you.

​Welcome to Graciously Broken Ministries, Inc.! We are glad you are here and pray we can help in some way. Nothing gives us greater joy than seeing women find freedom from the pain and trauma of their past and the subsequent lies that permeate their false belief systems. Life can be messy, hard, and even devastating at times. Sometimes, we choose paths of destruction and heartache in some desperate attempt to find meaning, acceptance, and love. Or maybe we are trying to run from the pain of our past or present. Whatever the case may be, we have found that the only source of hope for freedom from any addiction, any hurt, or anything that causes us to feel trapped is Jesus. We know this to be true because we have experienced the Grace of Jesus first hand. We were graciously broken.

##### Resident Profile:
Our ideal resident is an adult female who, because of circumstances such as abuse, addiction, or other issues that have caused her life to be unmanageable, needs a safe place to get on her feet and start over. She wants to find a new, healthy way to live and is prepared to commit to a year-long program which will provide her with life skills, recovery tools and spiritual renewal. The program offers individualized care in a small, family environment for women who are ready to pursue health, wholeness, and freedom. Education Coordinator

Graciously Broken began as a vision in the hearts of two recovering addicts who found hope and healing through the transformative work of the Gospel.  As God began to make a way for vision to become reality, board members joined the effort and a home was made available. God brought three women in need and in March of 2016 the doors were opened. Within the first two years, the ministry grew from 3 women to 21.  In 2019, we moved to our third location where we have a capacity for 30 residents. God continues to lead and direct as we develop, set, and meet goals to make this program it's very best.

Since the beginning, there has been continued growth and expansion within the ministry. Graciously Broken offers 3 different programs in order to reach those who have different needs. On our website you will find an explanation of each program and what they offer. Each program offers individualized care in a small, family-like environment for women who are ready to pursue health, wholeness, and freedom.

At Graciously Broken, we do not believe in behavior modification. Through experience, we have learned that true, lasting freedom can only be achieved with transformation of heart and mind. And this transformation is found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Veterans Support Commission is a 501c3 nonprofit organization created to celebrate veterans and the sacrifices made by the veteran and their families.

Our celebration began as a going away party for a family member serving in Afghanistan & has continued to grow over the last 8 years.

The VSC team is made up of former military members, dependents, and volunteers. We all have big hearts when it comes to honoring and helping our military members!

Looking out for our aging and medically disadvantaged veterans is one of our greatest honors - to care for those who took care of us. Our programs help provide repairs and maintenance to the homes of our heroes who need our help.


###### SCHOLARSHIP

Our events provide support for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Scholarship Fund for children of local veterans.

The East Texas Veterans Resource Center (ETVRC) has been made possible by the integration of services provided through grants. ETVRC has been awarded grants from the Texas Veterans Commission, the US Department Of Veterans Affairs, and the Texas Department of Health and Human Services.
