Now who is this speaker, you ask? He is Doug Smith, MSSW, a passionate advocate for mental health who has personally navigated the challenges of mental illness, substance use disorder, and prison incarceration.

Through treatment and therapy, Doug transformed his life, became highly educated and now works to help others realize their potential. Doug has served as a policy expert for the Texas House of Representatives and Senior Policy Analyst for the Texas Center on Justice and Equity. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Social Policy at the University of Texas at Austin.

Credentials aside, Doug is a compelling speaker, who has devoted his life to helping others facing mental illness. The summit is a wonderful opportunity for you to hear firsthand Doug's message: Hope is real, and mental illness can be overcome.

Doug will be publishing a book over the summer, "Leadership Lessons from a Prison Cell."
