The East Texas Angel Network is a 501c3 non-profit organization located in Longview, Tx. founded by Famous East Texas native country music singer, Neal McCoy, and his wife, Melinda, who both wanted to support the families of children with severe needs. Every donation, sponsorship, and advertisement for our annual events is a major portion of the fundraising for the families enrolled in our network. Our annual fall fundraiser includes a golf tournament, sponsor’s dinner, and a benefit concert. Neal is the featured artist for the concert along with many friends from the entertainment industry who donate their time to the cause. Eighty-five cents of every dollar received goes directly to the families assisted by the East Texas Angel Network. The special guests donate time and travel expenses, while local hotels, merchants and restaurants donate goods and services. The only expenses paid out of monies raised are for necessities to facilitate the fundraising event, and paying the salaries of ETAN personnel.

Being unable to fund major medical expenses, the network may pay for travel, food, utilites, rent, and car expensees. In almost all cases the network pays directly to suppliers. We also make referrals for things outside of our capability (e.g. van conversions, wheel chair ramps, etc.).

By supporting The Martin House you are helping provide forensic interviews, referral services, and advocacy support to children affected by abuse and their non-offending caregivers. It is one of 70 CACs in Texas and more than 800 across the U.S. dedicated to protecting our most vulnerable citizens: our children.

The children’s advocacy center model originated in 1983 by then-District Attorney Bud Cramer in Huntsville, Alabama. Recognizing that child victims were being re-victimized by the very system that was supposed to protect them, Cramer led a group of front line workers from CPS and law enforcement agencies, nurses, mental health providers, and others to establish the first Children's Advocacy Center in 1985. Today, the Huntsville center is the National Children's Advocacy Center and serves as a model and resource for advocacy centers across the country. Bud Cramer went on to serve as a US Congressman where he continued to fight for children until his retirement in 2008.

Amarillo is the proud home of the first CAC in Texas when The Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center opened its doors in 1990. Since then, communities all across the state have established multidisciplinary teams to investigate, prosecute, and provide intervention for abuse victims and their non-offending family members.

In 1998, leaders in both Gregg and Harrison counties began educating their communities regarding the need for a children’s advocacy center. East Texas CASA contacted Children’s Advocacy Centers of Texas, the membership association for CACs in Texas, and the process of starting a CAC in our community began.

The Children’s Advocacy Center of East Texas (CACET) was established in a little gray house on College Street in Longview and children received forensic interviews beginning in June 2000. At the time, the CAC had one employee, a Program Director, who quickly hired a Child Advocate to help ensure the children and their families received services so vital to their healing process. CACET began to coordinate the efforts of the professional teams who investigate, prosecute, and facilitate healing in both counties. The teams included representatives from area law enforcement, the District Attorney’s Office, Child Protective Services, and local medical and mental health professionals.

In 2002 East Texas CASA changed their organizational name to East Texas Child Advocates (ETCA) with three programs under their umbrella: East Texas CASA, CAC of East Texas, and Getting Together Safely. Because of the desire of the board to have all three programs under one roof, the programs moved to a larger location on South High Street in 2006.

In the summer of 2008 the ETCA board voted to separate CAC of East Texas from the umbrella organization. A committee was formed to begin the process of the legal separation. In the summer of 2009 a new board of directors was formed and The Martin House Children’s Advocacy Center of Gregg and Harrison Counties was established and moved to 606 West Garfield Drive in Longview.

In 2014 the board of directors voted to add Marion County to its official service area and changed the name of the organization to The Martin House Children's Advocacy Center. To better support the multidisciplinary teams and families from Harrison and Marion Counties, a CAC satellite office was established in the Carlile Building in Marshall in September 2015.

The Martin House Children's Advocacy Center is the result of a remarkable collaboration and coalition of dedicated individuals and agencies which serves more than 600 children and their families each year. This partnership, combined with a generous outpouring of community support, has made the center a reality and children a priority. The center is one of 70 CACs in Texas and more than 800 across the U.S. dedicated to protecting our most vulnerable citizens: our children.

**Family Health Starts Here**

Wellness Pointe is an FTCA Deemed Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. We provide a variety of medical and social support programs to benefit the health of the whole family. If you do not have a primary care physician or would like to change providers, Wellness Pointe is ready to serve your health care needs! We have nine convenient locations in Longview, Tyler, Mount Pleasant, Kilgore, and Gilmer with early morning and evening appointments available to accommodate your busy schedule.

Wellness Pointe happily accepts Medicaid, CHIP, and Medicare (including Health Spring).  We also accept most health, dental, and vision insurance including Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, TRICARE, and United Healthcare, to name a few.

Buckner offers a wide variety of services to children, families and single parents in the Longview area with the goal of building the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in life and fulfill their potential. **This profile highlights our FAMILY HOPE CENTER.** The Family Hope Center is a child-centered, family-focused place where families go to find hope, support, and empowerment in their community to reach their fullest God-given potential.

- Financial Literacy – Tuesdays 6 to 7:30 pm for 12-weeks

- ESL Classes – Mondays and Wednesday 9 to 11 am and 12 to 2 pm – Starts the 3rd or 4th week of August and ends the 2nd or 3rd week of May.

Lacy is a single 25-year-old facing an unplanned pregnancy, unsure if she can parent her child. Mackenzie and Taylor have been in foster care for six years and are anxiously awaiting a forever family to adopt them. Doris and Peter are empy-nesters, looking for a life of community and meaning as they live out their retirement years.

Buckner offers a wide variety of services to children, families and single parents in the Longview area with the goal of building the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in life and fulfill their God-given potential.

When you volunteer with Buckner in Longview, you will meet people like Lacy, Mackenzie, Taylor, Doris and Peter. You will minister to them and pray with them. Their stories will leave an eternal impact on your soul. The Buckner ministry is unlike any other.

In Longview, we provide:

**Foster care and adoption**

Buckner provides the training and resources needed to become a family to a child for a season through foster care or a forever family through domestic foster care or adoption. Children in these programs are most often referred through the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services due to experiencing abuse, neglect or abandonment. We also respond to mothers experiencing an unplanned pregnancy with counseling and support. Learn more by calling 903-757-9383.

**Buckner Family Hope Center® in Longview**

The Family Hope Center programs offer child-centered, family-focused places where families go to find hope, support and empowerment in their community to reach their fullest God-given potential. The key to the succes of the Family Hope Center is found in combining effective programs and passionate people to help families that are experiencing poverty, family issues and lack of services.

Our programs seek to engage through family assistance and community events; equip families through education, financial empowerment, child and youth development and spiritual development; elevate families through family coaching, counseling and spiritual enrichment.
