Since October 1988, the East Texas Food Bank, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has provided food to over 200 partner agencies and food programs, in an effort to feed children, the working poor and seniors throughout 26 counties in East Texas. A member of Feeding America, The East Texas Food Bank is one of four food banks that serves the Gulf Coast Region who are pre-staged with food products from Feeding America, to respond to disasters.

Our food sources include a variety of national, regional and local food manufacturers, brokers, wholesalers, and retailers donate food to the East Texas Food Bank. Donated food includes overproduced or discontinued items, frozen foods, dairy products, mislabeled goods, dented cans, day-old breads and pastries, and odd-sized produce. Local farmers and gardeners provide fresh produce. Individuals, businesses and community organizations support the East Texas Food Bank through various canned food drives throughout the year.

We are a voluntary association of counties, cities, school districts and special districts within the fourteen-county East Texas region. We assist local governments in planning for common needs, cooperating for mutual benefit and coordinating for sound regional development. Either directly, or through our contractors, ETCOG provides programs and services for East Texas seniors, employers and job seekers. We also build the 9-1-1 emergency call delivery system, provide peace officer training and homeland security planning services; and deliver rural transportation services, business finance programs, grant writing services and environmental grant funding for the region.

Over the past two decades, Special Health Resources has grown into a comprehensive health care system in North East Texas and South West Arkansas , providing affordable care for the whole family. In 2016, Willie Faulkner, Michael Scott, and Mica Sterling met with an employee of CPS and discovered a tremendous need for beds in East Texas. Beds of Hope was formed and, to date, we have built 1000 beds! Wellness Pointe is an FTCA Deemed Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. We provide a variety of medical and social support programs to benefit the health of the whole family. If you do not have a primary care physician or would like to change providers, Wellness Pointe is ready to serve your health care needs! We have nine convenient locations in Longview, Tyler, Mount Pleasant, Kilgore, and Gilmer with early morning and evening appointments available to accommodate your busy schedule.

Wellness Pointe happily accepts Medicaid, CHIP, and Medicare (including Health Spring). We also accept most health, dental, and vision insurance including Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, TRICARE, and United Healthcare, to name a few.
